The golden trail

The meeting point is the valley station of the Rifflsee cable car in Mandarfen. The gondola takes you up to the ski area, where you can explore the varied natural snow slopes of the Rifflsee. The valley descent takes you to the glacier ski area. If you get hungry, you can either dine at the Sunnaalm on Lake Rifflsee or at the Kristall restaurant on the glacier. Continue with the Wildspitzbahn cable car to 3440 metres. In Austria’s highest café, you can enjoy cakes from their own patisserie with a magnificent view before descending 1700 metres back down into the valley to Mandarfen, the starting point.

The golden trail takes about 4 hours (without breaks) and you cover almost 3000 metres in altitude (from 1680 m – 2800 m – 3440 m – 1740 m) and 33 kilometres of slopes.

The golden trail is recommended to be done with a ski guide. Until the end of the season, the Skischule Pitztal offers the guided tour every Sunday. Cost: 40.- WITHOUT ski pass
