The mountain railways on the Pitztal Glacier & Rifflsee are in operation for you in summer and winter. So you can enjoy the alpine open space all year round. Whether you prefer to explore the glacier while skiing or hiking is entirely up to you.
Prices of the cable cars at the Pitztal Glacier & Rifflsee
With the glacier mountain railway in Pitztal you can reach two skiing and hiking areas with just one ticket. Gletscherexpress
The Gletscherexpress – originally known as the Pitz Express – was the first mountain railway on the Pitztal Glacier. The funicular has been transporting visitors from the valley to an altitude of 2,840 metres since 1983. The ride takes just 8 minutes. The cable car was completely rebuilt in 2022.
Wildspitzbahn
The journey continues with the highest and most modern cable car in Austria: the Wildspitzbahn. It makes the high alpine glacier world of the Hinterer Brunnenkogel accessible to everyone. The name of the cable car was coined by the impressive view of Tyrol’s highest mountain. The Wildspitzbahn also takes you to the highest coffee house in Austria – Café 3440.
Rifflseebahn
To reach the skiing and hiking area around the Rifflsee, take the gondolas of the Rifflseebahn in Mandarfen. The valley station can also be reached from the glacier in winter: The two ski areas are connected via the valley run. In summer, the Rifflsee and the mountain restaurant Sunna Alm – the living room of Tyrol – are popular among families, hikers and bon vivants alike.
